Leaving Austin is the new generation of country music. Don’t let their tattoos, piercings, and skinny jeans fool you. These 5 young guys have the cutting edge to where country music is headed. Leaving Austin consists of members: Austin Machado on lead vocals, Davis Forney on guitar and harmonies, Michael Stevens on bass, Terry Ashford on lead guitar, and Ryan Chin on drums. Born and raised in the central valley of California, growing up on country, pop, and rock n’ roll, they decided it was time to get back to their roots and sing country their way.Living in the small towns of the Central Valley, everyone just seems to know everyone. Michael, Terry, and Davis grew up playing music at church together in Visalia, CA. One night Davis went to a local venue to watch one of his friends’ band. When he walked in the room to check out the opening band, he heard Austin sing for the first time. “His vocals captured me in disbelief”, says Davis. Austin was then introduced to Davis that night through mutual friends and they hit it off immediately. They started writing music and became best friends within days. As they pursued music, Davis brought Michael and Terry onboard. As they played local shows, the guys heard Ryan’s flawless drumming in their friends’ pop punk band. It was a no-brainer to call him about their new endeavor of pop country. They all decided to get together for a practice session and it was immediately apparent that, when Ryan started playing along with them, this was the dream team.
Leaving Austin has had the privilege of sharing the stage with some amazing musicians such as Joe Nichols, Randy Houser, Chris Cagle, Love and Theft, Parmelee, Wynonna Judd, and Rodney Atkins as well as doing pre-parties for Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes, Kenny Chesney, Eli Young Band, Kasey Musgraves, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, and George Strait. After being an emerging artist at Nashville’s CMA festival in the summer of 2013 and being a part of 3 weeks of the television series America’s Got Talent season 8, the guys have hit the ground running.
They recorded their first full length album, self-titled “Leaving Austin”, in 2013 with producer and engineer Colby Wedgeworth, known for his work with The Maine’s record “American Candy”, Lydia, Lincoln Brewster, and the Pop Goes Punk series. They came to Colby with 6 catchy country songs, but were looking to him and his pop influence to take things to the next level. Colby couldn’t believe how catchy the songs were and how amazing Austin’s vocals were. In his words, “Austin is my favorite singer I have ever recorded.” As the recording process continued, Colby wanted more, so the guys sat down with their agents, Run Away Productions, LLC, and decided to add two previously unheard songs (“Goodnight Kisses” and “Not the You I Know”) to make it a full length record. As Colby pushed and challenged the band to intensify the pop sound, they realized they needed something to bring their country love back into the mix. That’s where Carrie Underwood’s fiddle player, Jimmy Herman, came into the picture. Jimmy took the songs and added his outstanding fiddle playing to take the songs to a level Leaving Austin never thought they’d hear. “I can’t help but smile every time I hear Jimmy gettin’ down on our song ‘Get It On'”, says Austin.
With the help and generosity their community, family, friends, local bars, venues, and their quickly rising fan base, Leaving Austin is headed towards success and nothing is going to slow them down. Check out Leaving Austin on Facebook at facebook.com/leavingaustin.
SCOTTY MAC BAND
Scott McLaughlin grew up in a small Southern California town surrounded by dairy farms, ranches and horse shows. Scott’s love for music began with listening to the classic rock stylings of Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band on the radio. His passion for country music took off like a rocket after receiving his first guitar from his father at age 13. Heavily influenced by Garth Brooks’ album “In Pieces” and Fleetwood Mac’s “The Dance”, Scott began writing and performing his own music in high school. While attending college, Scott continued to hone his music and vocal talent forming several bands and actively performing throughout Southern California. Ultimately encouraged by his parents, Scott took a leap of faith and dedicated all of his time and efforts to his music career. After forming The Scotty Mac Band, Scott went to Nashville and recorded his debut EP, Messin Around, stylistically blending the contemporary sounds of modern country with the traditional instrumentation and story telling lyrics of the genre’s roots.
2015 was a whirlwind with the band performing at major country music festivals and opening for national touring country acts such as Chris Young, Easton Corbin, Parmalee, Jake Owen, Darius Rucker, Joe Nichols, Luke Bryan, Brett Eldredge, Cam, Old Dominion, and Rascal Flatts. 2016 is shaping up to be huge for the band with main stage festival appearances already being booked.
2016 has been a year filled with performances at major country music festivals in California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah as well as opening for national touring country acts such as Easton Corbin, Chase Bryant, Chase Rice and Colt Ford.
Melia Salas is a country music singer-songwriter and a born and raised California girl. Her passion for music began as a little girl, where she could be found singing along with her favorite Disney movie characters. Growing up in a small town, Melia found that the stories in the lyrics of her favorite country songs resonated with her and she drew inspiration from some of the strongest female voices in country music such as Shania Twain, Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks, and Martina McBride. With her debut single releasing this year, Melia’s original music is an honest glimpse into the California girl’s experiences in life, love, and lessons learned along the way.
